Union County receives unmodified FY2023–24 audit; revenues exceeded projections

Andrew Dobson of Halliday, Schwartz & Co. presented Union County's FY 2023–24 financial audit at the April 8 Council meeting and reported that the county received an unmodified audit opinion. Dobson summarized that county revenue exceeded the projected budget for the year while spending was below budget.
Dobson told Council the county had been prudent in investing and managing funds, and he said the auditors issued "an unmodified opinion statement," the highest routine audit finding for basic financial statements. Chairman Phillip G. Russell II and Council members thanked audit staff and county finance personnel; Councilman John Flood specifically commended county management and staff for improving the county's financial position.
The county Treasurer’s Office and County Finance Department were acknowledged for their work supporting the audit process. The FY 2023–24 Financial Audit is available on the county's website as noted at the meeting.
Council took no additional formal action during the meeting beyond receiving the audit presentation and recording it in the minutes.
