Williamson County Highway Commission accepts multiple subdivision streets into county road system; approves Old Cox Pike speed-limit reduction

The Williamson County Highway Commission on May 6 unanimously accepted more than a half-dozen subdivision streets into the county road system and approved a separate resolution reducing the posted speed limit on Old Cox Pike.
Superintendent Eddie Hood recommended accepting streets in Hardeman Springs Subdivision (section three), multiple sections of McDaniel Estates (sections one through five) and Starnes Creek Subdivision (section one) into the Williamson County Road System. Engineering representative Michael Scott told commissioners he also recommended approval. Commissioner David Coleman moved the acceptance motions, which passed unanimously, 5-0; the minutes state formal resolutions will be prepared and presented at next month’s meeting.
Separately, the commission approved a resolution to reduce the speed limit on Old Cox Pike in the First District. Superintendent Hood said he had consulted County Commissioner Jones and recommended the reduction; Commissioner Stan Tyson moved the resolution and Commissioner Wayne Davis seconded. The motion passed 5-0.
The votes recorded in the minutes for the acceptance items and the speed-limit resolution were unanimous, with no recorded dissent. The minutes note that staff will prepare formal resolutions and return with recommended language and any implementation steps at a subsequent meeting.
The meeting also included routine district reports, a status update from Superintendent Hood that debris removal is winding down, and a brief explanation from Budget Director Phoebe Reilly about FEMA reimbursement related to the January ice storm. County Attorney Sarah Bullock reported no legal issues. The meeting adjourned at 8:50 a.m.
