Selectmen authorize Simsbury Farms Golf Course restaurant lease after due diligence

After executive session on Feb. 23 the Simsbury Board of Selectmen authorized the Town Manager to execute a modified lease agreement for the Simsbury Farms Golf Course restaurant.
Town Manager Marc Nelson told the board that the financial due diligence requested at the prior meeting has been completed. Recreation Director Tom Tyburski noted operational details such as plowing for emergency access and sledding-area considerations. The board discussed consistency in lease language, a five-year option, tee-time language and snow-removal responsibilities.
First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis noted a typographical correction in the lease and said the lessee will make $20,000 in capital improvements. Tyburski reminded the board that any improvements made by the lessee would become property of the town. Board members also discussed replacement or repair responsibilities and a monthly pest-control schedule. Town Attorney DeCrescenzo reviewed and approved the agreement.
Following discussion Ms. Mackstutis moved to authorize the Town Manager to execute the lease as modified; Curtis Looney seconded. The motion passed with all in favor. The board said further budget discussion about Simsbury Farms will occur at an upcoming budget meeting.
