On June 1 the Lawndale City Council approved several routine but required governance and finance measures.
Assistant City Clerk Yvette Palomo presented three election-related resolutions to call the November 3, 2026 general municipal election, request consolidation with the Los Angeles Countywide election, and adopt candidate statement regulations (staff referenced resolutions CC2606025, CC2606026 and CC260607). The council adopted all three resolutions unanimously with one member absent.
Separately, the council adopted the FY 2026–27 appropriation limit (described in the staff presentation as the Proposition 4 / Article XIII B limit) noting the city's appropriation subject to the limit is $19,118,005.65 and the statutory cap is $48,088,202. Staff also presented the annual investment policy for 2026–27, reporting no changes from the prior year; the council adopted the investment policy resolution unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the consent calendar (items G3–G11) by unanimous vote with Councilmember Kearney absent.
