Susquehanna Township Authority approves park transfer LOI, vendor payments and equipment purchase

At its May 5 meeting the Susquehanna Township Authority unanimously approved a letter of intent to transfer Wedgewood Hills Park to support a $400,000 LWCF grant application, authorized multiple vendor payments and a $23,260 Trimble survey-unit purchase to improve in-house GIS and surveying capabilities.
The Susquehanna Township Authority at a May 5 regular meeting unanimously approved a series of administrative and procurement actions, including a letter of intent to transfer Wedgewood Hills Park to the Township to support eligibility for a $400,000 Land and Water Conservation Fund grant.
The board, led by Chairman Anthony Salomone, ratified the letter of intent after a motion from Frank Lynch and a second from Steven Napper. The transfer authorization directs the solicitor to prepare the paperwork necessary to effect the transfer and advance the grant application.
The board also approved several payments and a refund. Manager Theresa Eberly presented an internal review showing the Progress Fire Company Home Association had been overbilled for several years; the Authority approved a $9,255.50 refund, a motion moved by Sean Sanderson and seconded by Napper. The Authority approved payment of a March invoice to Harrisburg University of Science and Technology for $3,388.35 toward an impervious-area reassessment project; the total invoiced to date on that project is approximately $10,500 with a project cap of $12,899 and the final payment expected at the next meeting.
For regulatory monitoring tied to the Stonebridge Apartments project, the board approved payment of Lower Paxton Township’s invoice in the amount of $1,890, representing Susquehanna’s 27% share of a $7,000 monitoring cost.
On capital projects, the board approved Application for Payment #1 from DOLI Construction for the Fox Run Trunk and Force Main Replacement Project in the amount of $420,348.99; the AFP was described as the first of multiple anticipated payments. The Engineer’s report noted the Fox Run project is largely complete with pump-station work ongoing and substantial completion expected in June–July.
The board also approved the purchase of a Trimble surveying receiver (Spectra Geospatial SP100) from Keystone Precision Solutions for $23,260, to be split equally between sewer and stormwater funds ($11,630 each). Interim Public Works Director Travis Mease told the board the equipment will allow staff to perform in-house surveying, integrate with the Authority’s GIS and map sewer, stormwater and other Authority utilities with approximately two-centimeter accuracy; Mr. Sanderson moved to approve the purchase and Mr. Napper seconded the motion.
All motions recorded in the minutes carried unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
