EAWSD reports Monte Alto funding increase, Well #9 back in production and administrative account changes

Clifford told the board on Dec. 17 that Monte Alto project funding rose to $5.2 million after a scope change elsewhere generated about $400,000 to be transferred; Well #9 has reached acceptable pumping levels and was returned to production, contributing about 2.5 million gallons in December.
At its Dec. 17 meeting the Eldorado Area Water & Sanitation District heard several operational updates from General Manager Maya R. Clifford and Operations Manager Anthony Marino.
Clifford reported the Monte Alto project's available funding increased to $5.2 million after a scope change on the substantially completed Balsa Road project produced a roughly $400,000 balance. That balance was removed from File Construction’s original scope and transferred to SKE Construction, the contractor on Monte Alto; the district will request a letter to the New Mexico Finance Authority to reassign the funds.
Clifford also encouraged board members to review a newly published PFAS characterization study released by Santa Fe County. She said the district submitted a Water Trust Board application on Dec. 11 for tank mixers, site improvements and well demolition and that a foreign LLC has purchased the Agora Shopping Center; staff have begun the commercial customer transfer process.
Operations Manager Anthony Marino said he added monthly percentage and 12-month rolling-average figures to the non-revenue water loss chart and reported December system pumping totaled about 4.8 million gallons, with roughly 2.5 million gallons from Well #9. He said the district expects to fulfill the contracted 200 acre-feet delivery.
Clifford also reported that a judge signed the order on a customer petition for the property at 18 Azul Loop, allowing the applicant’s designation to be changed from out-of-district to in-district; the change will be reflected in future EAWSD bills and County Assessor records.
No legal updates were reported, and the board received brief comments from staff before moving to the agenda business.
