Organizers say GR Dirt Bike Rally nearing 400‑rider limit; county, BLM coordinate event support

Josh White, who represents motorized users, said the GR Dirt Bike Rally will give away a donated dirt bike in honor of Dick Brass and that registrations are “almost to their limit of 400 people.” He and other committee members discussed ride limits, keeping riders‑per‑guide low, and how to manage routes that cross county lines.
Andy Gordon, representing OHV riders, previewed two events: the Swell Cabin Fever Poker Ride on April 18 near Chimney Rock and a Watermelon Crawl in early May. Gordon said about 70 participants had signed up for one event and expressed frustration that the online trail‑report form requires users to create an account before submitting reports; committee members discussed streamlining reporting and sharing guidance for participants.
Jaydon from the BLM gave a wider operational update and asked about sending a BLM representative to the Dirt Bike Rally to monitor conditions and provide outreach. Committee members agreed better on‑site coordination would help with signage, trash control and route questions.
The committee approved its March minutes at the start of the meeting and proceeded to other agenda items.
