Beautification Committee seeks volunteers as membership dips; buoy needs sanding and painting

Linda Gebhart, chairman of the Beautification Committee, told the Hampton Beach Village District on May 13 that volunteer participation has decreased from 18 volunteers last year to 14 this year and asked for additional help.
“The buoy needs to be sanded and painted. Anyone who would be willing to do this would be most appreciated,” Gebhart said, and provided a contact phone number (305-240-0317) for prospective volunteers. An audience member asked how many hours volunteering would require; Gebhart replied it would be a couple of hours a week.
Gebhart also announced the Hampton Garden Club Plant Sale will be held next Saturday, May 16, at Centre School from 9 a.m. to noon, with prices starting at $3. The committee’s request for more volunteers comes as the district schedules summer events that rely heavily on community help, including the Sand Sculpting event for which Chairman Chuck Rage separately requested more volunteers during new business.
No formal motions or budgetary requests to hire staff were presented; the committee sought unpaid volunteer assistance.
