Lane Memorial Library outlines summer reading, adult presentations and youth programs

Julia Verbanic of the Lane Memorial Library told the Hampton Beach Village District at its May 13 meeting that the library’s summer reading program will run June 18 through Aug. 1 and will kick off with the slogan “Plant a Seed Read.” She outlined a mix of programs for all ages, including Thursday evening adult presentations on plant propagation, first aid and CPR for dogs and cats, and sessions on forming a trust.
“Story Time and Arts and Crafts will be presented. There will be a Kids Cooking Club, All Ages Yoga, a Teen Cooking Club, and a Kids Garden Club,” Verbanic said. The programs are intended to broaden offerings beyond traditional book borrowing and to engage families and teens over the summer.
Commissioner Robert Ladd asked about museum and attraction passes; Verbanic said patrons may use their library card to obtain passes online that include discounts. When Ladd asked about checking out items other than books, she said the library maintains a list of loanable items and that two bookable rooms are available for public use by reservation.
The library’s announcement came during the district’s meeting at Lane Memorial Library and follows the board’s broader summer-event planning. No fee schedule or registration deadlines were specified during the presentation.
