Beachwood swears in three full‑time police officers

Mayor William J. Cairns and the Borough Council formally swore in three new full‑time police officers at the May 20, 2026 meeting.

Patrick Fullerton, Austin Dinklage and Vincent Pedone took the oath of office before the council and families. The municipal clerk read Police Chief Daniel Altman’s remarks in his absence, noting the officers had been hired as Class 2 officers and “have shown competency in their new positions along with an eagerness to learn.” The chief’s statement continued: “We are very proud to have them join our ranks tonight and wish them much success in their careers going forward.”

Council later approved three separate resolutions formalizing the appointments and pay: Resolution 2026‑159 adjusted Patrick Fullerton to a first‑year pay scale of $60,299 effective May 8, 2026; Resolutions 2026‑160 and 2026‑161 appointed Austin Dinklage and Vincent Pedone as full‑time sworn officers at Step 1 of the PBA Local 253 contract with an annual salary of $60,299 effective May 20, 2026. The resolutions were adopted by roll call.

Police Lieutenant Dennis Allen thanked the council and families for their support during the swearing in. Mayor Cairns offered congratulations and noted the ceremony was notable for its size, saying it was the first time multiple new officers were appointed together in his years of service.

Next steps: the officers are now full‑time members of the Beachwood Police Department and will serve under the borough’s contract terms with PBA Local 253. Any further changes to compensation or assignment will be reflected in future council actions.
