Charleston wins TAP grants for July event and oral-history project; park design funded for next year

Charleston — At the May 7 meeting, Natalie Taylor told the council Charleston had been awarded two Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grants: one to fund a 'Splash and Catch' activity on July 24 and another to support an oral-history YouTube series titled 'Preserving Charleston.'
Taylor said the town also plans to apply for an additional grant to cover design and engineering for a park upgrade; if successful, construction would be scheduled for the following year. She said a public-input session on the park design is planned at an upcoming barbecue event, and she invited volunteers to help with a community potluck on June 1 and the town cleanup day on June 6.
The council acknowledged the grants and encouraged community participation in the events and in park-design outreach.
