Empire MAC approves minutes; sheriff reports lower crime and crisis team logs 121 referrals

The Empire Municipal Advisory Council on Oct. 22 approved the minutes from its July 23 meeting and heard monthly reports from county and local officials. The Council’s motion to approve the minutes was made by Hannah Holden and seconded by Kevin Oliver; the motion passed unanimously.
Deputy Craig of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office reported recent calls for service that included one assault, one domestic violence incident, two family fights, one death and one warrant arrest, and said that the tally is about one-third of what statistics usually show. He also noted an incident at the junior high school; details were not released.
Danielle Morgart, field representative for Assemblymember Juan Alanis (22nd District), said that AB 16 (ballot efficiency bill), AB 17 (elections precinct map) and AB 310 (Nevaeh Law clean-up bill) were all signed by the Governor. Horacio Madueño of the Stanislaus County Mobile Crisis Response Team said the team operates 24/7 and can be contacted by phone or through 911; in October the team logged about 121 referrals, of which 32 resulted in hospitalization.
Addie Blackwood reported that the Empire Public Library is seeking volunteers for its Friends of the Library group and offers home connectivity kits and blood pressure kits that patrons can check out, along with programming for children and adults. Claudia Camarena of Empire Elementary School said the school’s food distribution program remains active, announced a Dia de los Muertos festival on Oct. 30, and noted that the Soles for Kids drive distributed 300 pairs of shoes.
No public comments or correspondence were recorded. Councilmember Rafael Rodriguez suggested maintaining a sign-in sheet to collect contact information so agendas can be distributed to attendees. The meeting adjourned at 6:40 p.m.; the Council set its next meeting for Nov. 26, 2025.
