He also announced Jonathan (John) Grama will become director of human resources effective July 1. "This is my 13th year as superintendent and I'm retiring," Dr. Gallagher said, reflecting on his time with students who began kindergarten when he started.
Board members moved quickly to ratify the consent agenda. Board president Mister Keith called for the motion; the items were approved by voice vote. Dr. Gallagher praised the three appointees for their experience and fit with the district, saying of Katie Riley that "whenever you need something done ... it gets done like the best it can get done."
Appointees and district leaders addressed the board after the vote. Dr. Katie Kennedy Riley thanked trustees for their "support and your trust and confidence," and described her long career in education and the mentors who helped her rise into leadership. Megan Wybeck, the district's pupil/people services leader, spoke about continuing mental health and whole‑child efforts; Dr. Gallagher described Wybeck's work on safe schools and special education.
The appointments were part of a broader consent agenda that included personnel actions, contracts, policy readings, and program agreements. The board did not separate the appointee items for additional debate.
Next steps: the newly appointed director of human resources will begin duties July 1; Dr. Gallagher will complete his tenure as superintendent after the current school year.
