Monroe resident voices opposition to nearby solar farm under construction

At the Sept. 3 meeting visitor Kevin Hopper of 425 McHenry Gin Road spoke during the visitors portion to say he opposed a solar farm under construction near his home and that he was acting as spokesman for nearby property owners.
Assistant District Attorney Mr. Mitchell responded that the Police Jury had recently adopted Ordinance No. 9489 to impose site-development regulations for solar farms but reiterated that the Police Jury does not have zoning authority to control how private landowners use their property.
