Police Jury approves finance committee recommendations, judges' fund withdrawals and several personnel actions

The Finance Committee met Aug. 19 and the Ouachita Parish Police Jury subsequently ratified its actions. Treasurer Cammack presented the claims statement for July 12–Aug. 15, 2024; the committee recommended payment of claims and the Jury approved the recommendation.
At the judges' request, the committee approved withdrawals of $125,000 from the law enforcement witness fee fund and $125,000 from the criminal juror fee fund for the 2023–24 fiscal year; the Jury ratified these withdrawals. Mr. Cammack also presented budget-versus-actual statements for review; no action was required.
Personnel actions approved by the Jury during the meeting included hiring Gary Jessie Jr. as a part-time Juvenile Detention Officer II; approving a pay increase for Kwanza Gray and a probationary pay increase for Dana Oliphant; promoting Carlena Williams to Director of Compliance and Training; and hiring Virginia Young, Endyah Lewis and Azzari Pleas as Emergency Call Specialist I pending pre-employment requirements. All personnel motions passed without opposition.
