Town planning staff reported to the Dennis Planning Board on June 16 that the Select Board approved a $150,000 scope for a master plan request for proposals, and outlined early concepts for a park and parking in Dennisport.
Paul said the master plan scope covers nine sections plus additional elements and that the town will seek a consultant through an RFP at the approved funding level. On the proposed park at 187 Upper County Road, Paul described two concepts favored by the Select Board: both include park improvements and one or both would add 145+ townhouses in adjacent parcels under certain concepts. He estimated basic clearing, reseeding and preliminary parking and circulation work at roughly $1 million to $1.5 million.
Board members debated whether the town should prioritize parking or park space in Dennisport. "Twenty spots might be enough myself, but we'll see what happens," Paul said about an early parking estimate; others argued paid parking could help manage demand and fund maintenance. Paul also noted possible additional parking resources in nearby commercial lots if lease arrangements are reached.
Paul announced two public engagement events: a stakeholder meeting with the Select Board and the Affordable Housing Trust tomorrow at 4 p.m. in the same room, and a community meeting next Monday at 4 p.m. at the Dennis Center for Active Living. The board said the master plan RFP will also include outreach and updated demographic data.
