Council approves rezoning of three Pebble Lane parcels to R‑1 at owner’s request

The Taylor Town Council on June 5 unanimously approved a rezoning request for three parcels at 490 Pebble Lane (parcel numbers 205‑05‑120a, 205‑05‑120b and 205‑05‑120c), changing the designation from AG‑1 (agricultural, one‑acre minimum) to R‑1 (single‑family residential, 5,000 square‑foot minimum lots).
Applicant Tonya Eggleston told the council she sought the rezoning after the death of her parents to divide inherited trust land among siblings. Building Official Josh McGinnis presented planning and zoning staff recommendations supporting the change. Council Member Sherry Cosper Duke moved to approve the zone change; Council Member Jason Brubaker seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Resident Rich Hyatt raised general questions during public comment about rezoning notice requirements under state law — including notice to property owners within 300 feet, publication requirements and signage — and asked for more education for council and community about those procedures. Council did not, during the meeting, identify any deficiency in the notification for this application; building staff presented that required processes had been followed.
