Port Washington North amends inspector residency rule, appoints election workers for 2023
Summary
After the clerk reported difficulty finding village-resident inspectors, the board amended Village Law residency requirements so Nassau County residents may serve, appointed four inspectors and two alternates for the 2023 General Election, and set pay rates.
The Board of Trustees on Jan. 10 amended its residency requirement for Inspectors of Election and appointed election workers for the Village of Port Washington North's 2023 General Election.
Clerk Palma Torrisi told the board she had been unable to locate six village residents qualified and willing to serve as Inspectors of Election as required by Election Law. The board, citing Village Law Section 3-300, voted to amend the rule so that any resident of Nassau County who is otherwise qualified may be appointed to serve as an Inspector for the village's election.
Following the amendment the board appointed Maria D'Urso, Concepcion Idavoy, Cindy Perdikakis and Julio Salamea as Inspectors of Election, and appointed Carolyn Mastropieri and Sandra Wright as Alternate Inspectors. The board named Cindy Perdikakis as Chairperson of the Inspectors. Compensation was set at $210 per day for inspectors and alternates and $260 per day for the chairperson. The vote was recorded as Trustee Cohen-aye, Trustee Malatino-aye, Trustee Scheff-aye, Mayor Weitzner-aye.
