Cleburne council approves consent agenda, plats and several appointments

The Cleburne City Council on June 11 approved routine consent items, two plats and multiple board appointments.
The consent agenda — which included minutes from the May 28 regular meeting, a service agreement with Tyler Technologies Inc. for merchant services, and several plat/escrow items — was approved by unanimous vote after the mayor waived formal reading.
On land‑use items, the council approved the preliminary plat for Lot 1, Block 1 of Project Maverick South, an approximately 28.66‑acre agricultural lot near Chisholm Trail Parkway and County Road 1216. Planning staff said the property meets Agricultural District standards, has city water available on County Road 1216 and likely would need on‑site septic because of distance from sanitary sewer. Planning & Zoning recommended approval 5–0.
The council also approved the final plat for a commercial lot (about 10.31 acres) at 1998 East Kilpatrick Avenue for a future Atwoods Ranch & Home store; staff said water and sewer will be tied in and the project meets the planned development standards. Planning & Zoning recommended approval 5–0 on that item as well.
Council made several committee appointments after staff identified vacancies following a retirement: Derek Weathers to the audit committee, Blake Jones to the 4B board, Oliver Cosby to the Type A board, and the mayor and Councilman Cosby to TIF Board 3. The appointments were approved unanimously.
Why it matters: The plats clear the way for an Atwoods retail location and advance a larger agricultural/industrial tract’s development plan; the appointments fill key local oversight and economic development boards.
