Town awards septic contract, approves engineering work and accepts residents' petition on Alexander Street

At its June 19 meeting the Town of Union Board approved several procurement and administrative items and accepted a resident petition regarding zoning enforcement.

The board awarded the bid for septic tank pumping and septage disposal to Bodek Septic & Excavating Services (Binghamton) at the bid prices of $300.00 per 1,000-gallon tank (hauling & disposal) and $500.00 per 2,000-gallon tank (hauling & disposal). The motion to award the contract carried with all board members voting yes.

Separately, the board approved a proposal from Delta Engineering in the amount of $32,380.00 for the Farm to Market Road sanitary sewer forcemain extension survey. The board also approved a NYSEG Customer Constructed Line Agreement for 2315 North Street, Endicott, pending Town Attorney approval and signature by the Supervisor.

The board approved a small 2024 budget transfer decreasing signage (account 40 7110 4147) by $629.39 and increasing professional services (account 40 7110 4512) by $629.39.

On zoning enforcement, the board accepted a petition from residents of Alexander Street requesting termination of an alleged illegal two-family, non-conforming use at 2604 Alexander Street and denial of use variances and rezoning requests at 2604–2606 Alexander Street. The board moved to accept the petition; the motion carried.

Other routine communications and referrals were recorded, including referrals of unsatisfactory municipal shelter and dog control officer inspection reports to Public Works, and an approved request from the Endwell Fire Company to use a garbage truck for an Ice Cream Social on July 10, 2024.

All motions described above were approved by unanimous vote.
