The Town of Union Board on July 10, 2024 adopted a slate of resolutions that included a procurement award, budget adjustments and personnel approvals.
Contract award: The board awarded the sanitary sewer cleaning and televising contract for West Corners and South Seward to Arold Construction Company, Inc., the low bidder at $128,800. The resolution was sponsored by Councilman Frank J. Bertoni, seconded by Councilman Joseph P. Nirchi, Sr., and carried unanimously.
Budget actions: The board adopted a budget modification increasing Interest Revenue by $4,556 and increasing Internet Services appropriations by the same amount, and approved a transfer of $50,000 from Blacktop‑Summer (31 5110 4118) to Blacktop Maintenance (31 5110 4126).
Resident reimbursements: The board authorized reimbursements of $53.99 to Stephanie Murphy and $44.25 to Joseph Smith for a taken Children at Play sign and a replacement trash can respectively.
Personnel and appointments: The board authorized the hiring of Nagely Valerio as Town Planner at a $40,000 starting salary (effective July 15, 2024, pending post‑offer testing) and authorized an internship for Zachary Rouhana in the Planning Department for summer 2024. The board also approved a resolution establishing standard workdays for certain elected and appointed officials for retirement reporting purposes.
Events and facilities: The board approved multiple requests for pavilion use and park events, including Panther Fest at Glendale Park (estimated 60–100 cars), a Highland Park pavilion reservation for an Octoberfest 5K, a West Endicott Park pavilion fee waiver for Cornell Cooperative Extension, a church parish council gathering at Highland Park, and a Park Manor Homeowners Association block party (with street closure requests referred to Public Works).
Easement and stormwater agreement: The board approved the Revised NSF Union Center Maine Highway, LLC Stormwater Maintenance Agreement and Revised Access Easement for the solar development and authorized Supervisor Robert Mack to execute documents subject to Town Attorney review.
All motions noted above were carried by unanimous vote unless otherwise recorded in the minutes.
