Commission approves reappointments, funding requests and a DOT grant; tables CUP until Dec. 3
Summary
At its Aug. 6 regular meeting the Commission unanimously reappointed two members to the Industrial Development Authority, approved Four H funding and a DOT roundabout relocation grant, tabled a conditional-use permit until Dec. 3 with one abstention, and entered executive session for personnel and legal matters.
The Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County approved several routine items and grants at its Aug. 6 meeting and took one notable procedural action on a land-use request.
Resolutions recorded that day reappointed Linda Beck and Walter Miller to five-year terms on the Industrial Development Authority (terms expiring June 30, 2029). Motions to reappoint each were approved unanimously.
Other agenda motions passed unanimously: renewal and funding for Four H, and acceptance of a DOT roundabout relocation grant. A motion to table proposed budget amendments was made and approved. On a conditional-use permit for 110 Stagecoach Road (labeled Hoyte CUP), Commissioner Jason Frost moved to table the item until Dec. 3, 2024 (or until judgment is reached); Commissioner Timothy Biddle seconded and Commissioner Damon Hoyte abstained from that vote.
The board voted unanimously to enter an executive session at 6:47 p.m. to discuss personnel and legal matters and reconvened at 7:15 p.m.; the chairman stated the closed-session topics fell within statutory exceptions and that no votes were taken in closed session. Commissioner Hoyte told the board he had considered submitting a resignation after recent election results but ultimately decided not to resign.
The reappointment resolutions and other routine approvals will be reflected in the county’s official minutes and resolutions; the CUP remains tabled until the December meeting or until a judgment is reached.
