Florence board makes mayor a full‑time post, confirms slate of city officers

The vote to convert the mayor’s post to full time was carried unanimously. At the same meeting, the board approved several of Mayor Gunn’s recommended appointments: Bobby Lingold as city attorney and prosecutor; Engineering Service as city engineer; Linda Wigley as city clerk; Windham & Lacey, PLLC as municipal auditors; Brad Burns as police chief; Melissa McCue as court clerk; Kevin Stewart as municipal judge; Witney Adams as judge pro‑tem; and Greg Hemphill as indigent attorney.
The motion appointing Brian Grantham as mayor pro‑tem carried with Grantham recorded as abstaining; all the other appointment motions passed unanimously. The board also approved Budget Amendment No. 1 for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2025, and authorized the surplus and disposal of non‑functioning office equipment as recommended by the city clerk.
The meeting minutes show the board approved the claims docket and the June 17, 2025 minutes; the minutes approval recorded two abstentions by Aldermen Kyle Martin and Brent Sistrunk.
The board adjourned after returning from executive session at 7:16 p.m.
