Camanche — The City Council approved a resolution authorizing an agreement to provide traffic-control services for a plant turnaround event expected to run July 13 through Sept. 21, 2026, with an estimated city cost of $44,100 if two traffic-control slots are staffed by the city.
City staff explained the event (noted in the packet as a seven-to-eight-year turnaround) brings an influx of roughly 1,400 additional workers during shift changes, and multiple regional law-enforcement agencies coordinate traffic control. The resolution authorizes overtime for salaried and non‑salaried officers, use of city vehicles, and the mayor’s execution of the agreement.
During discussion council moved to amend the agreement to explicitly include additional local routes (Dun Road and Anamosa Road) in the coverage area; that amendment passed by roll call. The resolution allows sheriff’s office or Clinton police to fill any slots the city cannot staff. Council approved the resolution and the amendment by roll call vote.
