El Segundo adopts 2026'2030 strategic plan prioritizing economic development, infrastructure and disaster preparedness

The El Segundo City Council unanimously approved a new 2026'2030 strategic plan at its June 2 meeting, endorsing six goals and a set of priority strategies for implementation over the next four years.
Deputy City Manager Voss presented the plan, which the council refined during a recent planning session. The six goals are: champion economic development and long-term fiscal sustainability; develop and maintain high-quality infrastructure and technology; optimize community safety, emergency preparedness and regulatory compliance; deliver exceptional customer service and clear communication; cultivate a high-performing and supportive workplace; and foster a connected and inclusive community.
Priority strategies the council ranked for near-term implementation include supporting business retention and growth, aligning financial and capital decisions with long-term planning, advancing the land use element update, implementing priority CIP projects, transitioning to AI-driven software solutions for operations, and enhancing disaster preparedness and communications. Voss said departments will develop action items tied to staffing and budgets and report monthly on progress.
Council members praised the plan's clarity and staff's work; the council voted unanimously to adopt the plan and directed staff to publish the document and provide ongoing status updates.
