Trustee Kelly also relayed that Republic Services requested residents not put plastic shopping bags in curbside recycling because the bags can jam sorting equipment and increase costs. Attendees noted store drop‑off bins (Jewel, Save A Lot and others) accept clean, dry plastic bags for recycling, and reusable bags were recommended as an alternative.
The board took no formal votes on these announcements; the public comment introducing the prospective business was informational and the TIFF/permit processes were handled later in the meeting.
