Dr. Heather Goldstone elected chair; Colin W. Reed named vice chair and clerk of Falmouth Select Board

Dr. Heather Goldstone was elected chair of the Falmouth Select Board on June 1 after members nominated her during the board’s annual reorganization. Goldstone, who accepted the nomination, told colleagues she planned to focus on ‘‘long-term finances, coastal resilience and housing’’ and to help the board ‘‘coalesce around a shared vision’’ with town management.
The board also selected Colin W. Reed as vice chair and clerk. The vice-chair appointment was amended to include the clerk role after members noted that the position historically has carried those duties. The motions to appoint Goldstone and Reed carried on voice and roll-call votes without recorded opposition.
Goldstone said she ran for office to tackle persistent local issues and pledged to ‘‘level up how this board is working together as a team’’ with town staff. Member Douglas C. Brown, who had made a public case for chairing, said responsiveness to constituent emails and the timing of agenda items would be priorities regardless of who leads the board.
The board’s reorganization included brief remarks of thanks to outgoing officers and recognition of new member Elizabeth M. Klein, who joined the board this term. Reed will serve as vice chair and as the board’s clerk, a role members said typically includes executing signature documents when needed.
