The Holmes County Board reviewed responses to RFP 2604 for county employee health‑insurance services on May 19. Staff reported two bids were received: a sheriff‑association plan and Brown & Brown (brokerage). Brown & Brown representatives presented a scope of services, described their public‑sector experience and said carriers typically need about two weeks to return pricing once employee census and claims data are provided.
Brown & Brown outlined options including fully insured and self‑funded consortium plans, noted potential administrative technology and education support, and offered to package quotes and recommendations for the board’s next meeting. The firm said it could host open‑enrollment sessions, produce a proposal with options and timelines and work with the county’s insurance committee to finalize a recommendation.
Next steps: Brown & Brown and the other bidder will deliver pricing to staff; the insurance committee will review and then make a recommendation to the full board at a future meeting, likely the June 16 session. Commissioners asked staff to push for timely submission of quotes and to coordinate carrier underwriting requests so the board can make an informed decision before open enrollment.
