The Foxborough Select Board approved multiple administrative items on July 15, including a bylaw amendment to make certain one-year appointments indefinite pending Town Meeting approval, the appointment of William Yukna as the board’s audit committee representative, and the issuance of a request for proposals for a townwide strategic plan.
Staff explained the proposed bylaw change would allow appointments such as plumbing, wiring and gas inspectors, burial agents and certain program directors to be held as indefinite appointments tied to the position rather than reappointed annually; the change must be approved at Fall Town Meeting before taking effect. The board moved, seconded and voted to advance the amendment for Town Meeting consideration.
The board also moved to appoint William Yukna as the second select board representative to the audit committee and approved issuing a 21-page RFP for a townwide strategic plan, with staff recommending a September 18 deadline to account for consultant availability during the summer. Staff said department heads reviewed the RFP and that the document includes comparative evaluation criteria to rate consultants.
During the meeting staff also announced the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission will conduct a reaccreditation assessment of the Foxborough Police Department starting July 22, and provided routine updates on paving, staffing and upcoming community engagement dates for the master plan.
