Jenkintown Borough Council approved a series of routine fiscal and administrative items during its meeting.
Council unanimously approved Resolution 2024-23 appointing the finance director and borough manager as Jenkintown’s delegates to the Montgomery County Tax Collection Committee. Members also voted to publicly advertise the 2025 budget workshop schedule.
On pensions, council approved the 2025 minimum municipal obligation (MMO) contributions: a police MMO amount of $285,669 and a nonuniform MMO amount of $48,196. Councilors praised the borough for keeping pension plans fully funded.
Staff brought an item related to Act 49 of 2024 (police pension credit for prior service), noting that the borough must decide whether to adopt the statute and that additional actuarial materials are outstanding. Council moved to table that matter until Oct. 7 so staff can provide the remaining documents and answer questions; council recorded a unanimous motion to table.
Votes on the resolutions and budget items were recorded as unanimous with the six present councilors voting in favor.
