Engineer: 22 ADA ramps out to bid and school district to fund playground repairs

Borough engineer Mark Vickerton told council the CDBG ADA ramps project — 22 ramps on the east side of town — is out to bid with a pre-bid meeting completed and a formal bid opening expected this Friday.
Vickerton said he expects bids and asked council for authorization to rebid the Walnut paving contract separately to keep schedules on track. Councilors and staff also reported on a community playground meeting held with the school district: the district obtained a structural engineer’s report, will pay for the necessary repairs and has lined up a contractor. After repairs are completed, the borough will request a certified playground inspector to verify safety before reopening the park.
Council members noted community fundraising and further meetings will be needed to address long-term upkeep for the playground. Staff said they will follow up with scheduling and contractor coordination as bids and repair timelines become firm.
