Commission hears update: Sixth Street federal grant secured; RFP in progress, construction expected summer 2027

The Historic Preservation Commission received an update that Hinsdale has secured a federal grant for work on Sixth Street and that the village is preparing a new request for proposals (RFP) for construction work.
Bethany, the village staff member presenting the update, said the prior RFP was delayed while the village awaited federal grant confirmation and that rising costs mean the village is re-working the RFP. She said construction is expected in summer 2027. Commissioners noted that the special service area (SSA) for Sixth Street has not yet been publicly discussed because firm construction numbers are not available, and they urged that related decisions will need to move through the village board once estimates are complete.
No contractor selection or firm construction contract was reported at the meeting. Bethany said the village will continue preparing procurement documents and provide updates to commissioners when there are more detailed schedules and cost figures.
