Police Jury approves opioid funding, tree work, insurance package and other routine items

The East Feliciana Parish Police Jury voted on several consent and committee recommendations at Tuesday's meeting, approving funding and contracts the jury's committees had recommended.
Key approvals included $102,000 to support opioid-related services administered by the East Louisiana Alcohol and Drug Council, a $24,700 award to Allen's Tree Service for deadwood removal and fertilization around the historic courthouse oaks, and renewal of the parish insurance program covering property, wind, equipment, general liability, public officials liability and business auto. Insurer-recommended private-market terrorism and malicious-attack coverage was presented at $6,652.73 and jurors approved the insurance package including that optional coverage.
The jury also approved a task order not to exceed $25,000 with HGA to support emergency exercise planning related to the River Bend nuclear regulatory exercise, and it renewed the single sales-tax collection agreement with the East Feliciana Parish School Board (the only change was a contractor name change for an audit firm). The liquor license for Back Road Steak and Seafood was approved as presented.
