Staff said the county must present before a review board (with a meeting cited for Dec. 17) as part of the application process.
The county sought grant funding to support collection of household hazardous waste during an event in 2026; a commissioner moved to authorize the county judge to sign the resolution in support of that event and the motion was seconded and recorded in the public minutes as carrying by voice vote. Commissioners noted the action is an enabling step to secure grant review and potential funding and that event logistics will be developed if the grant is awarded.
Why it matters: Household hazardous-waste events provide residents with a disposal option for items that should not enter regular trash or storm drains, including certain chemicals and electronics. Authorization of the resolution enables county staff to pursue the grant and present necessary documentation to the awarding board.
