Autauga County Commission approves Section 5311 grant resolutions, personnel moves and proclaims Men’s Health Week

The Autauga County Commission met on May 19, 2026, and voted unanimously on a series of routine agenda items, including adoption of minutes, approval of invoices and warrants, personnel actions, and grants. Commissioner Jay Thompson, chairman of the Autauga County Commission, presided over the meeting.

The commission approved FY2026 Certifications and Assurance for Federal Transit Administration assistance and separately approved the FY2026 Section 5311 grant application (Resolutions No. 2026-41 and 2026-42), measures the commission’s minutes record as carried by unanimous vote. Commissioners who moved and seconded the motions included Commissioner Rusty Jacksland and Commissioner John L. Thrailkill on the FTA certifications and Commissioner Bill Tatum and Commissioner Terry Tanner on the Section 5311 application.

The board also approved a proclamation recognizing Men’s Health Week. Chairman Jay Thompson read the proclamation and “do[es] hereby proclaim June 15-21, 2026 as Men’s Health Week in Autauga County,” a text the minutes record as adopted by the commission.

Several personnel actions were approved without discussion. The commission granted a one-year, one-step pay increase for Mark Lively (Courthouse Security, DOH May 23, 2025) and approved the termination of two full-time correction officers (Jordan Flowers and Tyra Jefferson) with authorization to hire replacements. The commission accepted the resignation of Dhija Williams (effective May 11, 2026) and approved hiring Leake Casey (full-time Correction Officer, grade PS301 step 3) effective May 12, 2026 to replace Williams.

Public works personnel actions included approval of a one-year, one-step pay increase for Ian Redmond (Laborer I, DOH May 20, 2025) and a promotion for Ian Redmond to Truck Driver with CDL (grade 4 step 2), effective May 25, 2026.

Budget adjustments approved by the commission included shifting $1,000 from account 52100-499 (misc.) to account 252 (postage) for the Sheriff’s office, and shifting $507 from 52960-499 (misc.) to account 263 (airfare) for school resource officer travel.

The commission approved payment for specified workers who tabulated primary election night returns (May 19, 2026) and for workers who will tabulate provisional and overseas absentee results (May 26, 2026). The board also approved an ABC license application changing the applicant name and adding co-ownership for Pine Level 2026 INC (Morris Chevron, Hwy 31 N., Prattville), with co-owner Dhruv Balkrishna Patel; the minutes note that the Sheriff’s Department background check was approved.

All listed motions in the minutes were recorded as carried by unanimous vote. The meeting adjourned at 5:14 p.m.; the commission set its next regular meeting for Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
