The Chair recounted that the earlier effort mapped local streams on NGIS and included names intended to honor local Indigenous history; he cautioned that older name choices might be offensive and said the committee should review original materials and reach out to neighborhood contacts. Committee member (S4) suggested contacting Mary Deangelis, identified in the packet, as a possible resource and speaker. Members discussed sample stewardship activities such as cleanups and neighborhood naming events to foster a sense of place.
The committee asked members to volunteer to lead the stream‑naming task and to prepare a short status update for the January meeting so the committee can report progress rather than an open set of unfinished items.
