The contract term runs through June 27, 2025, and the town confirmed it now has access to the firm's grant-search portal.
The procedural resolution, which the board said supplements Robert's Rules of Order, was approved by voice vote. The standard workday resolution instructs the town to report elected and appointed officials' workdays for 2024 to the New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System based on records maintained by the officials.
The board also accepted a proposal from Millennium Strategies LLC to provide grant research and writing assistance. According to the motion and discussion at the meeting, the immediate benefit is access to Millennium’s grant portal, which the town will use to identify potential funding opportunities; the firm will perform full grant writing when the town selects specific projects to pursue.
During the public-comment period, Scott (who identified himself as "Scott, SE Town of Southeast") urged the board to consider live broadcasts of its meetings and asked for more detail about what the grant services would target. "I would like you to consider live broadcasts of these meetings," he said, adding that water-related grants and paving projects should be priorities.
A board member responded that the board "voted on tonight was just to hire this company" to obtain portal access and that the company will provide full grant-writing services for specific opportunities when needed. The member said the portal helps the town find available grants and offers guidance but that detailed grant pursuits will come later.
The board set its July meeting dates and public hearings for July 11 and July 25, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., and adjourned after a final motion. Several routine procedural motions (waiving readings of correspondence and budget-transfer readings, and approving the voucher list) were approved by voice vote earlier in the meeting.
Attendance recorded during roll call included Councilman Cyprus, Councilwoman Lewis, Councilman Mazada and Supervisor Durant; Councilman Lara was recorded absent.
