Huntsville School District honors homegrown technology team that supports thousands of devices

The superintendent opened the meeting by recognizing the Huntsville School District technology department for its role supporting instruction, operations and safety across the district.
The superintendent said the team “empowers students and faculty through the use of technology,” noting the department supports more than 2,200 students, over 350 staff, approximately 3,000 student Chromebooks, about 650 other student or staff devices and more than 375 access‑control doors. “Most of their work happens behind the scenes,” the superintendent said, praising their role in the Windows 11 migration, classroom upgrades and security camera improvements.
The superintendent singled out four people by name: Wesley Ellis, identified as the district’s systems administrator; Cody Seagris, a Tech 2; Jesse Binham, a technician; and Spencer Chambers, a part‑time contracted technician. The superintendent emphasized that each of them is a product of the district: “They once sat in our classrooms and today they’re helping lead and support the district that helped prepare them for success,” the superintendent said.
Board members thanked the team and invited the honorees to the dais for a photograph. The recognition preceded routine consent business and did not include formal board action beyond the acknowledgement.
The recognition highlighted the district’s investment in in‑house capacity and the operational scale of its device fleet and security systems.
