Kingsburg manager unveils $37 million proposed budget, schedules June 17 public hearing

City Manager Alexander Henderson presented the City of Kingsburg's proposed fiscal year 2026-27 operating and capital improvement budget at the June 2 council meeting, describing it as the city's "major policy document" for the coming year and noting alignment with council priorities including financial stability and community safety.

Henderson outlined key figures: an all-funds budget just over $37 million, about $6.1 million earmarked for capital projects, and a general fund revenue forecast of roughly $7.9 million. He told the council the ambulance and fire enterprise fund is expected to operate in the positive and that the city will continue to rely on intergovernmental transfers to reimburse transport costs above recoverable rates. Henderson also detailed recurring transfers from the general fund to community services: approximately $150,000 annually to the pool and $100,000 to the senior center, and confirmed no planned changes to the number of general fund positions.

Major capital work highlighted includes ongoing road projects, several solar installations (three completed and one nearly finished), and the Well 10 TCP treatment project identified as the largest single capital item. Henderson said the city will pursue available IRS rebates for solar installations and is updating its impact fee nexus study, required by state law every eight years.

The council did not take action on the budget at the meeting. Henderson set a public hearing for the proposed budget on June 17, 2026 and invited further council and public input before final adoption.
