He highlighted Health Science Academy successes at Monroe High School: 10 students earned CNA certification; five completed EMT coursework at South Piedmont Community College; seven students were on pace to earn associate degrees; and the cohort earned an estimated 696 college credit hours worth about $132,000 in tuition savings for families, according to the superintendent’s remarks. He also listed multiple state athletic championships earned by district teams.
General counsel told the board staff planned to release a revised Administrative Guideline 4-03 (the code of student conduct) after obtaining stakeholder feedback and to implement it for the upcoming school year.
Next steps: Committee dates were announced (finance committee June 23; policy June 16; several committee meetings June 24) and the meeting adjourned.
