Committee reviews comprehensive wellness and health policy rewrites on first read

Ally Anderson, policy chair, said the district is conducting a comprehensive three‑year wellness policy review and that updated state regulations required a rewrite of the wellness policy. Rebecca (on the line) has led drafting work and the committee thanked staff for expediting the rewrite so it could be posted on the district wellness webpage for parent access.
The packet included revisions to the immunization policy (members suggested adding the statutory phrase 'sincere religious beliefs' to clarify exemption language), updates to first‑aid and extreme‑emergency language consistent with MASC guidance, and a new policy on self‑administration and self‑care medications for students. Committee members asked staff to confirm legal phrasing with counsel and for further clarification on notification/authority procedures; the policies will return for final consideration at the next meeting.
No votes were taken; the committee scheduled second reads and final votes at its June 15 meeting.
