The Coffey County Commission on May 18 approved a slate of routine personnel actions, road contracting steps and small financial items across county departments.
Among the actions the board approved were the minutes of the May 11 meeting and five tax abatements totaling $1,182.34. The commission authorized the chairman to sign the Agricultural Risk Coverage-County Option and Price Loss Coverage election forms through the Farm Service Agency and directed a letter to the Kansas Department of Commerce requesting a 60-day extension for the CDBG ECDC-USD 243 construction contract.
The board approved a consulting agreement with McCully and Associates for the 2027 valuation year at a total cost of $20,500, billed monthly at $1,708.33 from the General Fund — Appraiser Department contractual line item. Multiple payroll notices and CP-2 seasonal-hire forms were authorized for jail and highway staff with specified wage classifications and effective dates.
On road work, commissioners authorized advertising to fill one Equipment Operator vacancy in Road & Bridge and voted to solicit sealed bids for the A2605-C Hot Mix Asphalt Project (approximately 1 mile of widening and a 2-inch overlay on Old 50 Highway) with funds from the Special Highway Improvement Fund and for S2601-C paint striping at several county locations (approximately 100 miles). The board also authorized contract documents with APAC-Kansas Inc., Shears Division, for Hot Mix Project No. A2602-C and approved Change Order Number 9 for the CDBG Airport Access Road – Phase I, decreasing the contract by $18,970.46.
