Administration said the change is temporary while staff work on broader code updates; supporters said it helps small nonprofits and youth groups that struggle with upfront licensing costs.
Council also approved introduction of Resolution 21‑26 to enter an interlocal cooperative purchasing agreement with the HGAC consortium to buy vehicles included in the township’s 2026 capital plan for the fire department. Administration explained that cooperative pricing offered the best value; earlier estimates in the capital process rose from approximately $485,000 to about $531,000 for the selected vehicles, and staff said the township would absorb any difference from general or capital funds or savings elsewhere.
Both measures passed after brief discussion and motions from council members. Staff said they will bring back any additional code changes or purchase details to council for final authorization where required.
