Board adopts emergency response, records retention and class‑size policy updates among others

At its June 3 meeting the Hollis School Board took up a set of policy readings and approved several as presented or amended.

Key policy actions: • EBCA (Crisis prevention & emergency response plans): Adopted after first reading; district emergency operation plans remain confidential and the EOP for each building is signed by the superintendent and the board chair. • GBB (Employee‑student relations): Adopted after standard review; board removed a now‑nonexistent policy reference. • JCA (Change of school/assignment): Amended to clarify that the policy concerns change of school assignments and includes language about assignments outside a child's home school; the board consulted district counsel for wording and adopted as amended. • JLCE/EBBC (Emergency care and first aid): Revised to clarify that the school will obtain emergency contact information for legal guardians for students and emergency contact information for staff; the board clarified language about availability of opioid antagonists so the policy permits but does not require stockpiling. • EHB‑R (Records retention schedule): The board amended the retention schedule to add guidance for Google account disposal/archiving and removed a specific employee name from the historical approval note; policy adopted with those edits. • IIB (Class size): The board replaced the existing class‑size language with an updated policy that incorporates New Hampshire Department of Education guidance (recommended target class sizes and maximums) while preserving local flexibility; the committee noted pre‑K sizing is driven by IEPs and services. • JICK (Pupil safety and violence prevention): Minor wording change ("without more" to "on its own"); second reading accepted.

The board recorded votes on the suite of policies; most motions were unanimous. Administrators noted that many changes reflect clarification rather than substantive operational shifts.
