The Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners swore in newly elected officials and moved quickly through organizational business at its Jan. 5 meeting. Judge Michael Falner administered the oath to Commissioner Melissa Bozac, Commissioner Stephanie Rafus, Commissioner Wesley Barrett and Tax Collector Laura Walmer, each pledging to support the U.S. and Commonwealth constitutions and to discharge their township duties.
After roll call confirmed a full board, members handled leadership elections. A motion was made naming Ron Butler for board president; following discussion the transcript shows the board recognized President Bitler as the presiding officer. Commissioner Wesley Barrett was elected vice president by voice vote.
The board appointed Bruce Vital as township manager after a motion, second and voice vote; Vital thanked the commissioners. The board also approved a set of check signatories and named backups to ensure at least two authorized signers are available for township accounts.
