Aitkin County HHS schedules June 10 open house; client services resume July 6

Sarah Pratt, Aitkin County director of Health and Human Services, said the department’s renovated office will reopen to the public for client-facing services on July 6.
Pratt announced the date on the county podcast "Coffee with the County," and outlined a June 10 open house that begins with county-employee tours from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m., followed by public tours from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
"We are opening to the public as of July 6th," Pratt said. She described new security upgrades, additional meeting space and program areas where supervisors will be present to explain services to visitors.
Pratt said the department moved its client-facing operations to the VFW around Labor Day while the renovation was underway and that residents should continue to use the VFW for paperwork and services until July 6. "Please remember, we're not open for business in the new building until July 6th," she said.
The open house program will include remarks from Sen. Farnsworth, whom Pratt thanked for helping the department secure bonding funds for the project; Pratt said the amount of those funds was not specified in the episode. The program will also give contractors and project staff a chance to be recognized.
Host Mark noted that Jim Bright, the project’s facilities coordinator, reported at a recent board meeting that the renovation is ahead of schedule and on budget. Pratt said she had not expected the project to be ahead but praised the contractors, architects and project managers who completed the work.
Pratt and Mark said the renovation moves roughly 60 employees back to the office and will let the public see aspects of Health and Human Services that typically are not visible during routine visits. The department plans to have supervisors on hand during the open house to describe program functions.
The department asked listeners to attend the June 10 public tours from 5:00 to 7:00 and to note that client services will resume at the renovated office on July 6. The podcast concluded with a brief thank-you and invitation to return for future updates.
