Representative St. Germaine described the measure as a tool to help local businesses and waterfront destinations by connecting marinas, restaurants and social districts: “This is a local option. If a community wants it, wants to allow golf carts on designated roads, they can. If they don't, they don't have to.” The House ordered immediate effect.
House Bill 5682, which amends provisions of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, passed by a tally of 91–14; the House ordered immediate effect.
House Concurrent Resolution 7, a concurrent resolution asking Congress to call a convention under Article V to consider proposed amendments focused on fiscal restraints, limitations on federal authority and term limits for federal officials, was taken up after the suspension of joint rule 18 and adopted by voice vote. Representative Mirman, urging support, said HCR7 “simply exercises that constitutional option.”
Several other bills were introduced for first reading and referred to committees, and committee schedules for early June were announced from the floor. The House adjourned until the next stated session.
