Goodwin University reports improved LPN outcomes; board treats quarterly update as FYI

Goodwin University presented its LPN quarterly report on May 12 to the Connecticut Board of Nursing. Vivian Friday, representing Goodwin, said the program had increased faculty hires (many with master's degrees), strengthened mentorship, maintained retention and reported first-time ENCLEEX pass rates of 86% at the Goodwin campus and 100% at the University of Bridgeport campus.
"We have made an 86% for our first time testers at the Goodwin campus and 100% for the student for at UB campus," Goodwin's Vivian Friday told the board. Board members congratulated Goodwin and treated the submission as an FYI rather than a matter requiring a vote.
Friday asked whether the quarterly reporting constituted closure of the board's follow-up. Attorney Liz Bannon and board members clarified that the board had requested the reports after the program's earlier approval and that, from a regulatory perspective, the documentation provided satisfied the board's requests; whether a formal approval letter is issued is not standard practice and may require staff follow-up.
The board discussed how some programs have previously been moved off conditional status after meeting ENCLEEX and reporting requirements; members asked staff to confirm regulatory language and minutes and to advise Goodwin on whether further documentation is appropriate.
No additional board action on Goodwin's LPN program was recorded during the meeting.
