Resident tells North Kingstown committee voters deserve a clearer bond dashboard

During public comment, Robert Jones of Fezant Run urged the Building Advisory Committee to provide clearer, public‑facing information about the district’s capital projects funded by the 2024 bond referendum. Jones said he voted for the bond based on promises about the new middle school and other prioritized fixes and asked for a dashboard showing budgets, expenses and project priorities so voters can see what will be delivered.
Jones urged the committee not to be strictly bound to the bond’s headline dollar amount if doing so forces shortchanging critical components, for example recommending that, if needed, the district spend above the referenced bond number to avoid value engineering educational spaces. He also asked the district to clarify whether the new middle school is intended to also function as an emergency shelter, noting that shelter readiness would change building requirements such as generator capacity and gym size.
Committee members thanked Jones and acknowledged the public interest in clearer communication; staff said some reporting improvements are under consideration and noted that detailed DD and budget materials will be presented to the school committee on June 16.
