Town staff reports progress on new high school site, flags traffic and bridge issues

Keith Reester, public works and engineering director, briefed the board on the Saint Vrain Valley School District’s new high school and career-and-technical-education center, describing visible construction activity and collaborative redesign work on roadways and stormwater.
Reester said the town and district have met with technical consultants twice recently, made significant improvements to the design (including moving entrances), and are coordinating on traffic, stormwater and speed-limit concerns. He said the district’s next full set of drawings should arrive in the town’s planning office in roughly 45–60 days.
Staff discussed a tight spot: a bridge spanning the south ditch that is narrow and may not qualify for certain off-system bridge grants. Reester said staff is discussing grant strategies with the ditch company and CDOT and expects the work to be a multi-step, multi-year effort. Trustees and staff also talked about sidewalks and pedestrian access near the site and the prospect of a work session this summer to provide trustees a technical update.
Reester said the town will continue close collaboration with the district and will arrange additional briefings as design work advances.
